Project log:

For this brief I focused on Amalgam in a personal sense I looked at how objects can hold so much significance and how we can have an amalgamation in our minds between these objects and a connecting memory.

I focused on things of my grandparents I kept after from their homes after their passing. From doing this it made me question why we human’s place so much sentimental value on just ‘things’ I concluded that it was a way of staying connected “Amalgamated” to the person we miss & keeping a piece of them, their personality, interest, style with you, making it feel like they aren't completely lost.

When taking the photographs I tried to be mindful of the camera settings, like narrowing the aperture to have a wider depth of field.

In editing I made the photos black & white to add to the past feeling of the objects. I also adjusted the levels to make the contraststrast more intense, creating a dramatic atmosphere.
